Let’s Talk Paint Colors!
Alright ya’ll, the number one question that I get is what color paint are my walls! And my answer is always, which room? lol
Paint colors are a tough one because paint always looks different in every room! Lighting is key, and the way the light comes into your room is going to make a big difference in how it looks! If you have a large room, you can go darker without any issue, but if your room is small, you want to give the impression of a larger room and go lighter. Than there’s the question of, “Should I go cooler or warmer?” That of course is a personal preference!
I personally like my home to have a warm feel when you walk in. I usually stick with neutral colors in the larger living areas, actually everywhere, except my boys chose blues for their bedrooms. Don’t get me wrong, I love color, but with neutral paint colors, I’m able to bring in my pops of color with decor, and no matter what season it is, or what color furniture I may have, I know it will work!
Which brings me to my home. When we first bought the house, the foyer was what it is now, but the living room and sitting room were Sherwin Williams, Barcelona Beige. That, I felt was too dark for me because I don’t get a lot of light in my living room. I did, however love my foyer color, so that’s why I ended up using it in the living room too and I love it! It is SW Accessible Beige, but don’t let the beige color fool you, it’s more of a warm grey color or Greige, and I love it! Lighter, brighter, and it has that grey tone that I love without being too cool of a color! I have yet to paint the sitting room but, I have another plan up my sleeve for the main wall in that room!😉 Accent walls are wonderful to add color also, and I may or may not be contemplating that!🤔
The kitchen and sunroom were both a yellow color that I hated when we bought the house, before we bricked them in some way, shape or form! So was my office upstairs until I painted that! The bathrooms still are and I am itching to get those done! All in good time I suppose! The rest of the kitchen, I chose a cooler grey called Agreeable Grey by SW. I do like it, but it took some time for me to get used to it, just because I’m typically a warmer paint person. It really gives a pretty tone to my brick backsplash and looks great with my white cabinets!
Here are a few pics of my home the way it is now! Keep in mind that these pics do have a preset, so the colors of the walls are just slightly changed!
